Speech Language Pathology Services

SLPs work with individuals and families to assess, diagnose, treat, and maintain various speech, receptive and expressive language, social communication, voice, and swallowing delays/disorders. Some of the areas an SLP may help you with are the following:

  • Articulation and Phonological difficulties with speech sounds could arise due to a stroke, Parkinson's, tongue tie, etc. An SLP would be able to assess and determine individual treatment strategies and various prompts to use. A Speech Language Pathologist can help!

  • Expressive (i.e., producing) or Receptive (i.e., understanding) language difficulties could be due to a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Traumatic Brain Injury, stroke, etc. An SLP would assess each category and determine which may be impacting the different areas of your life.   • Disfluency of communication could impact an individuals functional activities in everyday life, such as work and/or personal life. This disfluency of speech may involve partial or full word repetitions, prolongations of sounds, or blocks on certain words. A Speech Language Pathologist can help!

  • Dysphagia involves swallowing difficulties, which could be due to a traumatic brain injury, stroke, Autism Spectrum Disorder, paralysis/paresis, Multiple Sclerosis, etc. There are multiple strategies and exercises that an SLP can provide to an individual in order to reduce these difficulties.   • Voice & Resonance concerns may arise due to head and neck cancer, Parkinson's, clefts, traumatic brain injury, etc. Voice clarity and quality, breathing strategies, hyper/hypo-nasal voice, and many other characteristics can be worked on with an SLP. A Speech Language Pathologist can help!

  • AAC is beneficial for those who are having difficulties communicating verbally. It can be used for a range of populations and diagnoses, with additional modifications for visual or fine motor difficulties. A Speech Language Pathologist can help!
